Meet the Demon of Procrastination and Get Out of Debt (creating blogs)

Procrastination could be one of the single most useful tools to help you get out of debt. Most people go through life trying to do things that they never want to do. If you want to get out of debt, and you continue going to a job that you hate and living the life that you don’t want, you are not priming yourself for a life of wealth and health.

What if I told you that procrastination is going to be the defining point in your life to get on track with your life and to get out of debt? Most people see procrastination as a bad thing. However, just like modern medicine tries to cure the symptom instead of the problem, procrastination is a symptom. The people that try to stop procrastinating futilely try to take on a disliked activity instead of stopping the activity.

If you went to your doctor with a bruise on your arm and asked him to “cure” the bruise, he would probably not have an answer for you. He could try to treat the bruise, but this would only be treating the symptom. If you wanted to stop having bruises on your arm, the doctor would ask you how it happened and come up with a solution to avoid getting punched in the arm again. The problem was never the bruise; the problem was the situation you put yourself in.

Just like getting punched in the arm, you will not stop procrastination. You will stop the activity that you don’t like or don’t have the ability to be successful doing and only do the things that you love. “Impossible!” You might say. However, it’s really that simple. When you “try” to do what you don’t love, you will never be successful. “Try” is the keyword here because what you don’t love isn’t done.

Take a good hard look at those things that you have been trying to get done that keep piling up. Just like your body’s immune system works to reject a splinter, your mind’s immune system procrastinates. This is your psychic immune system sending up a red flag to only do what you love in life.

You can’t stop procrastination, but you can start living a life doing more of what you love and less of what you don’t. By setting goals that revolve around the things you love to do in life; you will start to see a positive return. Do a few months of successful goal setting, and you will see five or six things start to accumulate into a life of blessings that you love and cherish.

If your goal is to get out of debt, then you need to set goals that include doing things that you love. Why are you in debt? Is there an area in your life that you can’t seem to make work? To get out of debt is treating the symptom. Figure out the events in your life that keep you down, and stop doing it.

Being Your Word is the #1 Easiest Way to Double Your Income

By Raymond Aaron

Millions and millions of us make resolutions all the time. Individuals promise themselves that they will go on a diet, exercise more, stop smoking or make more money. Each person really means it at the time but about 90% of them fail. You may even be one of them.

If you were, the first mistake was making a change without planning for it. You probably assumed that willpower alone would be enough when, in fact, you were making it much harder for yourself. After all, there were people, things and events in your life that encouraged the very behavior you were looking to change.

If you’ve been to a workshop, seminar or coaching program you’ve probably seen that your resolve, energy level and sense of commitment are extremely high at the time; that’s because you were away from your normal environment. Once you returned to your own reality the desire and wherewithal begin to fade to the point where you may not have done even one of the things you swore you would during the session.

It’s incredibly important to identify and eliminate the things that aren’t productive in your environment and replace them with things that are. For example, if you’re trying to lose weight you may find that part of your problem is eating too quickly in front of the television. If you sit somewhere else, or have dinner with a spouse or friend, you are apt to find yourself eating less junk food, slowing down so you feel full on less, etc. Staying away from negative people and activities is also crucial. You want people who say, “yes you can,” not “no, you can’t.”

Stress is another strong prompt to resume unproductive habits so wherever you can avoid that annoying acquaintance, refuse to engage with a business partner who loves to argue or stop discussing finances during dinner. You will be amazed at how many of these circumstances you can change. Also recognize that the few you can’t are going to prompt ingrained habits that impede success. If you have a plan in place you will have tools and new behaviors to help you respond differently.

The other significant mistake most people make is that they really don’t hold themselves accountable. They convince themselves there are no great consequences to their actions or non-actions. For example, one day you may say. “Got to get something else done, so I can’t today, I’ll be better tomorrow.” Then tomorrow comes and you find another excuse not to do what you promised you would.

Accountability is the most important aspect of the way we interact with others. Government gets held accountable, as do corporations who have to answer to disgruntled shareholders and teachers give demerits to school children that don’t turn homework in on time. People need to understand that personal accountability is just as crucial to attaining business and personal success.

When we don’t keep our promises we are met with our own fate. We don’t get healthier and our lives don’t get better. People stop trusting us, especially in business. Even something you see as a small issue, like being chronically late, can have a tremendous effect on what people think about you. After all, when you can’t even keep your promise to be on time it colors the decisions others make about giving you added responsibilities and opportunities. In sum, if you’re not your word, what are you?

Here are three key ways to set up a positive environment and mental framework for being accountable on a sustainable basis:

1. Break long term goals down into monthly, weekly and daily commitments for yourself.

2. Find an “accountability partner” and set up a process for saying your goals aloud to that person every day. Make sure he or she also knows how well you did at meeting yesterday’s objectives.

3. Set up consequences for not meeting your goals. It can be as simple as not playing golf that day or not buying something you want.

With the right environment and accountability process in place you will be ready to set much bigger goals and meet them.
