Web Marketing - 4 Must Do Techniques to (blog consultant) Drive Traffic
No commentsBy Jackie Lee
As a blog owner you must know how to drive traffic. Traffic is an essential part of any website. Without traffic there is no opportunity to make money.
Most people struggle to increase their traffic, many get frustrated and quit. Don’t fall into that trap. Driving traffic is easy if you know how to do it. Follow these 4 techniques consistently and you will increase your traffic.
Reciprocal Blog Links
Ask bloggers who write in related niches to swap links with you. This is called reciprocal linking or also blogroll link swapping.
Reciprocal linking helps in a couple of ways. You can ask the blogger to use specific keyword texts in your link on their site. This will give you a powerful link on each and every page, post and tag page of their blog. The more links you have the better your site will do for the keyword in Google.
If the blogger is getting decent traffic you may also see traffic come directly from the blogroll link.
Bookmark Your Posts
Each time you bookmark your posts you give yourself another backlink. These are not the best backlinks as they are not keyword anchor text liniks, but all links count at least a little.
You also give others the opportunity to find your site when they search on a bookmarking site.
Bookmarking all the different sites can be time consuming, but there is software available to make it a little easier. You can try social poster, or only wire if you want to submit your site to many bookmarking sites at once.
Article Marketing
This is one of the best ways to build backlinks and drive traffic to your site. The more backlinks the better you do in search engines.
After you have written your post think of a few other related topics and write a quick article on those topics. You can then use your resource box to include 2 links to your site. These can and should be keyword anchor text links.
Then submit the articles to as many article directories as you can. There is software available to make this process easier, and there are services that will do the entire submission process for you.
Blog Directories
My Blog Log and Blog Catalog are two of the most popular blog catalogs. This is where you can submit your blog and interact with other bloggers.
They are also like a huge search engine for blogs. You can just submit a search and it will bring back all the different blogs in the directory that talk about that topic.
There are so many ways to drive traffic to your site. No matter how you decide to do it, you must do it. Your site will never make money if no one ever sees it.
Remember, small consistent action usually does more good than one grand action. Just choose a couple things to do and do a little bit daily and you will see your traffic increase.

Squidoo or Blogging: What’s Best for Affiliate Marketing?
By Ron Passfield
I first started to really take notice of Squidoo when my Squidoo lens displaced my blog from the number one position on Google for its keyword. The blog was 2 years old and had held the number one position for at least twelve months; the Squidoo lens was about six weeks old.
However, I very quickly discovered that it is not a case of “Squidoo or blogging” but rather “Squidoo and blogging and…”
My affiliate marketing strategy now is to use Squidoo as the hub of a marketing wheel with the spokes being other marketing strategies such as blogging, article marketing, Twitter, social bookmarking and Facebook.
Why use Squidoo as your marketing hub? There are seven (7) good reasons:
1. You can incorporate the RSS feed from your blog into your Squidoo lenses so that when you update your blog, your relevant lenses get updated.
2. Squidoo lenses can accommodate the RSS feed from your articles in article directories or the feed from other writers’ articles.
3. The new Twitter widget will automatically update the Twitter feed (tweets) in your Squidoo lens whenever you create a Twitter post.
4. You can set up your Squidoo profile to automatically generate a post in Twitter whenever you update any of your lenses.
5. You can embed your own YouTube videos in your Squidoo lenses to attract traffic to your blog or website (you can also use the the YouTube module on Squidoo to incorporate other videos of your choice).
6. Squidoo provides a Flickr module that enables you to incorporate your Flickr photos into relevant lenses.
7. You can automatically update your Facebook page with your Twitter posts about your new or updated Squidoo lens.
It is no longer effective or efficient to adopt a single affiliate marketing strategy. You can get a better return for your efforts if you think in terms of integrating different approaches so that they work together to provide a consistent and widespread message about your affiliate products and services.
Squidoo provides the perfect platform to create the marketing hub that will integrate your other approaches to affiliate marketing. Much of this integration is done automatically for you.
In this era of social marketing it is critical that you develop an affiliate marketing strategy that builds on, and contributes to, the connectivity and interactivity that are the hallmarks of Web 2.0 technologies. Squidoo was designed by an internet marketer, Seth Godin, as the social networking platform to facilitate this connection and interaction.
Through Squidoo, you can leverage your writing and marketing efforts and create a marketing synergy that can accelerate your affiliate marketing results.
